When I look at the list Scooter posted of BASE and SEBASE companies it seams pretty clear to me that there are a lot of silviculture firms breaking the rules. Some of them are know to be shifty, some are well established operations. More enforcement might help level the playing field as a lot of hos...

It should be noted that of the companies bidding only A&G, Celtic and Evergreen have done that job in the last 15 years. The ground is not just older and brushy, but has a lot more rock than the previous year. This will be a very tough job at that price.

I don't think any of those seeding machines are in Canada, it's a Swedish thing they have been trying to sell here for a while now, and I don't think it has caught on because of the terrain here. Re: Compliance with BC Employment Standards
Most Contractors do not consider consecutive years of seasonal service to apply, and will pay %4, even if the employee has worked for them for 10 seasons. I'm pretty sure that this practice is above board as someone who is not employed by you for 6-8 months is not really working consecutive years.

its not a line plant, so you don't have to wait around. you just have to be aware of 4-5 other people in your piece. I tend to agree. When trees are tendered on the open market you bid the access that you find, and negotiate changes if they occur. The major issue with road deactivation often occurs with Direct award clients where there is no bid and you are often just expected to make due.

they were unable to negotiate the prices they wanted. There was likely more ground this season that BCTS deemed to be "easier" and Timberline disagreed. when the ground changes on a multi year deal it can sometimes be hard to negotiate pricing the way you would like.
