Re: Conepicking
we just came from the slave lake area in alberta, picking lodgepole pine, not sure what they were getting per HL but we got $50/bag, in which fit 2.5 buckets. it was possible to do 8 bags some days, and that's not much daylight and in the freezing cold. and we got dayrated below a certain amount, a...

Online courses while planting
I was thinking about doing some Athabasca Uni courses this summer (probably just 1 or 2). I was wondering if anyone had done this before and if its doable?

Re: Brinkman and Associates
Like I said this was years ago but it was 9c scarified 10c raw (your usual terrible ontario prices) Land and travel time varied throughout the contracts. If the two supervisors running those camps are still Sam and Niel I suggest you go with Sam. Niel's was a cool guy but Sam's camp got preferential...

Re: Brinkman and Associates
Hey I worked at that camp 5 years ago. At the time the Unionized thing worked out to 15$ camp cost instead of $25. (apparently no company actually has the right to charge more then strictly food) They also paid for reefer unloading and travel time over and hour. I never got any money travel time and...

Re: Planting to sell Carbon credits?
Like I said everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. If you think that the answer is to go on the offensive and attack the credibility of scientists then by all means revel in your cynicism. I just feel like humanity might be able to do something more productive and that sustainability is a worthwh...

Re: Planting to sell Carbon credits?
What information are you providing? Mein Kampf quotes and Youtube video’s don’t really cut it in my books. I don’t claim to have the answer and I’ve been trying to follow this debate for a while. What I have noticed is that the denialist camp picks around the edges of the issue and usually relies on...

Re: Planting to sell Carbon credits?
I don't know if this is the place to get into a debate about Climate change. The shear amount of controversy generated by the whole Climate gate thing is pretty unbelievable BUT if you take the time to do some objective research on it (not youtube videos) you can see that they have definitely been b...

Planting to sell Carbon credits?
I was wondering if anybody knows about tapping into the carbon credit\offset market? With the emphasis on being green right now I feel like a planting company could make some money selling carbon credits. (I don’t know if anyone else has seen those car insurance commercials where they brag about goi...

Thatguy, I find it a little odd that for someone who claims to have no actual affiliation with dynamic the only posts you've made on this site are ones talking about how great this company is....

Re: Dynamic Reforestation
Yeah that was last year we were getting from 15>25c but we were actually out of Alexis Creek (an hour away from Willies). I know there was another camp working out of Williams lake itself but I don't know what kind of money they were getting. I actually have a graph of all Dynamic's prices posted un...

Re: Dynamic Reforestation
I did the 2008 and 2009 season with dynamic, good people and Jeff R is a pretty fair guy. It depends what camp your at some are mostly vets (I think my crew averaged about 7 yrs experience) while others have more rookies . Its mostly obstacle fill planting near Williams Lake. Dynamic had some really...

Re: Waterside Ventures Ltd.
Yeah I did a couple of shifts with them during downtime in 06. They mostly do work out of Burn's lake\ Lake Babine. The owner Earl was really chill and paid in full before i took off. Younger camp, not the greatest food, fair>mediocre prices but overall a pretty decent place to pick up some extra do...

Re: Seatbelt Buckles for planting bags
My bad I should have added “if you do heavy bagups “. But yeah it doesn’t really matter I was just suggesting an alternative, one that doesn’t break down in the middle of bagups and only requires you to stumble upon a junked car somewhere.

Seatbelt Buckles for planting bags
If you don't wear shoulder straps and hate when your shitty little plastic buckle clicks open when you've got a full bagup.... obviously not claiming to have invented it or anything but i definitely wish i would've started doing it earlier

Re: Planting this summer!
My first summer in T-Bay with Brinkman, I guess its not a terrible choice for your first year. Just take what they have to tell you about the rest of the Industry with a grain of salt. I'm just saying that because when I worked there they really try to give you the impression that Brinkman and Ontar...

Hey I've planted 4 years and worked for Brinkman (in thunderbay), Summit, Waterside, Artisan (briefly), Northern, and Dynamic. Im sticking with Dynamic in the spring > summer and Northern for august but it would be great to hear about any other juicy contracts out there. Thanks for the forum!

Re: Summit
Hey i did a couple of seasons for summit back in the day. Not the greatest, but I have a graph comparing the prices and $ from Summit (2007) and Dynamic Reforestation (2008). Summit was mostly hectare planting so the I had to plant some really low density to get these prices over the .12c average th...
