Re: The Myth of Perfect Density Debunked

I'm pretty sure I'm the planter referenced by sghyselinks. Nothing beats having to plant 500+ trees for free , just because a pair of douchebag - suckup checkers were too lazy to do more than 1 density plot per hectare. In both cases the plot was centered right on the corner of a slashpile, despite ...

Pay for driving, walk - ins , overtime questions.

I'm one month into a shitshow where we've been averaging 4-5 hours driving each day, 30 - 45 minute walk-ins and 12- 13 hour workdays. Questions : 1. At one point is a planting contractor obligated to pay planters for travel time and when does overtime kick in or does it at all). 2. Is it legal to p...

Re: 2014 Public Bid Results Thread

Am I missing something ? My math on the Dewan FSJ bids above works out to 32.1/31.6 = 1.016 = an insignificant 1.6% increase in price. Plus, a shit company like Dewan winning big contracts doesn't inspire much optimism in how the bidding will go this year.

Re: Walking Math

If you pay a flat price such as camp costs for a walk in , usually the "highballers" will be doing all the bitching. I've witnessed more than a few $400/day planters whining about how unfair it is that they're getting paid the same as a $300-$350 planter for a walk in.

Bid price will only tell part of the story.
