Re: viberg...yay or nay?
for coastal work i would say NO. for the price buy 2 pairs of blue lightning non steel toe with neoprene liners and a good footbed. will always have a dry pair and can rotate, plus they are light. and you will not need to apply leather treatment all the time if wet conditions. i wore vibergs for yea...

Re: Steel Toe or No?
Western Forest Products is considering requiring all planters to wear steel toed boots. I don't think this really sunk in when I read this earlier. This doesn't entirely make sense to me, since all coastal planters by necessity are required to wear caulks, which inevitably are steel-toe and steel-s...

OK. now i cannot take your pie talk seriously after this post.
Live in Salmon Arm, and I am sorry but their pies are substandard. No butter crust, but lard crusts and tastes are not perfected. You obviously still have not had a good pie if you think their pies are great.

I can get where your coming from. My training is in forestry, but don't use the degree as i hate hourly rate jobs and what the forest industry has become. But I have been planting for over 20 years now, and did development/silviculture work prior to that for several years. There has been a huge chan...

workwizer in the past for shovels. didn't get a last years blade or this year yet. bush pros are slightly heavier blades, i like the lighter weight of workwizers. workwizer plastic handles (not last years metal shaft/blade ones) are by far and away the best. lighter weight and the plastic shaft abso...

Do not buy used ones. Thats just cheap. I Know a person that did that and got a weird staff infection. Can't say for sure it was from used shin pads, but shortly after a friend got some used ones, got a slight rub, then staff infection shortly after. Who wants someone else's sweat when the things on...

Re: Anyone experienced in modding Workwizer shovels?
Option #1 won't work for you, as its solid one piece plastic to the bottom, no rivets or screws like the old wooden shaft handles. You would need to go option #2. Get the handle and blade apart and you will see the metal sleeve in the bottom of plastic shaft. This metal would need to come out and th...

However the flip side to that, having done tons of surveys is that there can be sporadic densities throughout blocks with NSR areas that have to be planted later on anyways, often in tough to reach places driving up costs because of access issues, walk in areas, ect... A lot of times direct seed blo...

What is up with these low bid contractors charging for flagging tape. WAgner and all-stars. Rediculous. Passing on the cost to planters so they can bid even lower on contracts. WTF. Whatever. I know many people that plant in caulked scarpa invernos and love them. Shells last forever. They always have dry boots since the liner can be taken out and dried. You can also buy spair liners. I will only use sportiva nepals that have been caulked. And they do not slow me down at all. I'...
