Re: Next Generation Reforestation (NGR)
This will be NGR's third year doing the spring contract in Quesnel. It looks like a really solid contract this year. Most of the blocks are freshly prepped with mounds & trenches. The raw blocks are decent... no insane rock beds like we've seen in the past. Everything is relatively flat. Prices ...

Re: Honest opinion
What exactly are you nervous about?... A person's character -attitude, mental toughness, motivation, work ethic- "make" a planter, not their gender. I really encourage you & your friend to do more research before heading out. It's okay to feel a bit nervous, but you've got to feel conf...

Re: Strangest thing you've found on the block
Coincidence? I saw one of those too and the other punk-ass foreman on the block snagged the seat belt buckle!

Re: can (tobacco) Smokers plant trees?
I personally can't decide definitively if smoking has an impact on actual planting or not. I think it does in a small way. I’m not arguing the fact that smoking impairs cardio health and physical output. I’m saying that that impairment doesn’t equate with crappy attitudes, laziness, inefficiency, p...

Re: can (tobacco) Smokers plant trees?
You can't generalize work ethic and planting numbers based on whether a person smokes or not. Some of the best planters I know smoke. Some don't. And a lame stereotype doesn't justify either one. Newforest, it sounds like your problem with planters is their lack of respect, (or your lack of demandin...

Re: RAIN GEAR IDEAS

Re: First Aid courses
There is some portability of certificates between BC and Alberta. BC OFA levels 1-3 can be used to work in Alberta if you take the Alberta Endorsement course. The endorsement is an extra 1/2 hr for OFA 1, or 1/2 day for OFA 3. A certificate from Alberta in Emergency, Standard or Enhanced First Aid i...

Re: Should Planters Wear Hardhats?
About five years ago the owner of NGR overturned Canfor's mandatory HH rule by arguing that the heat created by wearing the hats was more dangerous to planters than overhead obsticles, falling debris, etc.
It's change on a small scale... but positive change nonetheless.

Re: Hi, my name is ...
Hi, my name is Marchena. I'm going into my 9th season in the bush. Most of my work is as a foreman/supervisor for NGR. I've planted for a few different companies in BC... also did some shorter stints as a cook.
I love my job.

Re: Next Generation Reforestation (NGR)
Manning has historically been a great contract... fast land & fairly relaxed specs.
The Kelowna job is a new one. NGR has no history working there.
