Re: Putting salt in water for electrolytes?

Ok good to know, definitely gunna start doing this. My camps have usually had a juice jug, but most often it all gets taken by the first 5 people filling up their entire water jugs. I know there are different types of salt so now I just gotta figure out how best to get all the critical ones. Maybe I...

Putting salt in water for electrolytes?

So I don't know much about heath science or biology but I know that electrolytes are a thing and that tree planting is the sorta thing that would deplete them. Has anyone experimented with making a simple sports drink by adding salt or other things to their water? I'm a bit of a cheap ass and not ab...

Re: Steel Toe or No?

Ya it was a tough decision, sounds like you guys are pretty well set up for a good season. You should come west with everyone at the end of the season, or I might just convince them else to stay out there haha.

Seems like a resounding No Toe verdict

Re: Steel Toe or No?

ya pretty wack, though ill admit I've almost poked my eyes out a couple of times working in pieces overrun with young poplars. Also I take back what I said about the toughest workboots having steel toes, I found a pretty good pair of combats for a decent price which will hopefully last me most the s...

Steel Toe or No?

Hey hope this hasn't already been discussed but I didn't see it on the other threads. So I've planted 3 seasons in Ontario and Alberta all in steel toes, and this year I am finally making the jump to BC. I believe steel toes are not a requirement out there and was wondering if most planters still us...

Re: Blue Collar Silviculture

Hey some good info on here but was wondering if anyone has any comments on the 2018 season. I got a spot in Jakes camp for 2019, but cant decide if its worth ditchin all my friends in Ontario for. I think Jake might have just taken over Etiennes camp last summer.

Re: 2019 Public Bid Results

and a very ugly contract in 100 Mile House Do you know who is currently working this one? I got a position on a blue collar crew this season and I know this is one of the areas they are planting in. I'm told we'll probably be around there for a month, which is a long time to be planting a shitty co...

Re: What Music Do You Plant To?

These probably weren't around too much a decade ago when this thread was last alive lol, but I highly recommend getting a good pair of waterproof bluetooth earbuds. Chords getting tangled is just not worth it, and with a good long playlist you can just leave your phone in a drysack in your backbag a...

Re: Heritage Reforestation Inc

I've heard of some good earnings in the Ontario camps, which sound like for the most part have the low quality high production mentality. Unfortunately I spent my first 2 years in the Alberta camp. Really nice area and I have some great memories but unless you're planting for the occasional nice vie...

Re: Haveman Brothers (Ontario)

Hey bit of an old thread but I spent my third season with these guys this past year and thought I'd share my experience if anyone is interested. Don't be concerned about the whole christian oriented thing. One of the camps has a ton of people from redeemer (a christian university), but unless you ge...
