Been buying Dakota Ballistics for years, and I usually buy a new pair every year. I like them for the features rather than the quality or price point, and because they're replaceable wherever I happen to be.

Swab testing and breathalyzer testing for crew bosses and staff under Domtar contracts are normal, and done before the contract starts. Both really only demonstrate that the person being tested didn't indulge the day before. Its a matter of whether a person can go to work sober.

The company I worked for took the contracts for the sake of doing the contracts, and the majority of the burners were Ministry Fire Fighters laid off for the season. It was day rate, union level pay.

This sounds like a good idea, and should be piloted all over the TransCanada Highway. Ontario travellers could really benefit from sectioned speed controls. I can think of a few particularly deadly stretches of highway that should have greatly reduced speeds in poor conditions.

Sandhill Reforestation has a plant between Melfort and Choiceland, super sandy, almost all Pj. Its all blocks killed off by natural causes, so there's virtually nothing for slash and stumps, raw land or brackes.

PRT is solely in the nursery business now. The planting is now Brinkman. Brinkman had promoted that they were going to preserve what was Frontier, but I heard tell that the staff moved on. It was very easy to spot Brinkman Ontario action where Frontier used to operate.

Many of the mechanic or racing type work OK, most of the time. Until you take them off wet and your body heat leaves them. For the days that cold and wet are a problem, I've done a couple things. The nitrile or rubber coated garden gloves are nice, keep the elements off of your hands and are grippy....

There's brushing and thinning crews out there. The amount of work varies by each FMU, as some use chemical spray to knock back hardwood, some use aerial seeding that needs thinning, some don't tend at all. Some units that do tend, save the budget up for a couple years and then go on a blitz.

Two of my planters had aircraft buckles on their bags, harvested from the belt extensions they give you when you're too round for one belt.

If you're going for junk yard buckles, go for the bench seats with a belt cutter.

It is likely that the client will have a fine written into the contract against the contractor for PPE violations. MNR doesn't have much planting to be done. A conservation officer driving by is going to be paying attention to any people they can see, whether they can write a fine for PPE is unclear...

I think what you're describing is a Viking Tempest. I've had one in the Ontario forests for a few years and the fabric has held up, but the pocket and pit zips won't close anymore. Still keeps me dry, but gets a little too breezy. I'll buy another.

I find my 560 runs a little longer than a 550, but my habits may have a lot to do with that. When I got my saw, it was new with a broken handle bolt. Haven’t broken one myself.
