Re: Planting in the USA
Are you yourself running any projects in the summer? And with the increase in housing prices, is there any *good* news for the US planting industry in 2021?

Re: Outland Reforestation/Restoration
On Monday, Carillion, the U.K.’s second-largest construction company, announced that it would go into compulsory liquidation. A last-ditch effort to secure a deal with the U.K. government and the company’s bank lenders failed over the weekend. The collapse raises fears for the jobs and pensions of ...

Re: Spring Coast 2017 - Or Not?
What's the coastal status as of today? Environment Canada tells me that much of the island is still under snow cover, but that doesn't tell me much about the blocks.

Re: Workwizer E-Handle
I haven't even seen one of those since 2013, right after Workwizer outsourced their manufacturing. Everyone I knew to have one broke it pretty quickly. Maybe some of the older ones lasted longer, but it'll be tough to find someone who still has one. Sorry!

Video of Tree Planting in France
This video, based on the title, claims to be of tree planters planting in France. I have no idea if they are actually in France, or how they got the job, or what it pays, or how a Canadian would get a job planting in the Continent. Does anybody here know who these guys are? Has anyone ever heard of ...

Logistics of Operating a Heli Show
Hi, I'm trying to write a screenplay that involves tree planting. Logistically, the camp I am setting the story in needs to be a Heli camp with no road access out, but although I have almost six seasons experience I've never been in such a camp. Is there anyone here who has been in or ideally run su...

Is this article accurate in any way? What is it even saying? That timber companies are cutting beyond their allowable cut and cutting wherever they please? I was under the impression The provincial governments were the control freaks.

Re: Planting in the USA
I was directed to a video of planting being done, reportdely, by people in California. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwlnSk7QRpk This really interested me. First of all, it's the first thing I've ever seen that there is tree planting being done by humans in the United States west of the mississipp...

I worked with some people (non-silviculture) who wore a lot of 10 Tree and thought they were pretty special for doing so. So I had this printed, wore it and told them it was a line for treeplanting "insiders" only. They didn't get it. How did you get tentree to get a custom print done for...

Re: Tree planting sure isn’t what it once was
Actually, I don't imagine these numbers are so inaccurate, when you consider how they are calculating minimum wage, thinking bout how bad BCTS prices are, and how many rookies there are in this industry. When you say 16$ an hour times 12 hours, you aren't using the same method they do, which is to c...

Re: BushPro vs Workwizer
BIth of the people I know who used Workwizer in the last two years had their blades break after just a few days of planting, one even the very first day of planting in fact. So it looks like there is some sort of a quality problem, probably because aparently they outsourced their labour overseas (th...

This is very uncommon. Vacation and stat pay is usually included in the quoted tree price. I have been paid vac on top by Outland though.

Re: Folklore Contracting
Actually? I made pretty good money there. I expected a really lowballed price there. I suppose I was lucky to be in a section of the block that had formerly been ripped, and it was very nice. I guess with a long walk-in, high grass, and ten foot tall cow parsnip, you should be getting a price around...

Re: Folklore Contracting
After having planted for Folklore in Scooter's camp this summer, I thought I would re-read Mike's review and see how it compared to my experience. Overall Mike's is very accurate-but I noticed a few points which would now be considered inaccurate due to the change in years and camp environment. So t...

Re: OUTLAND Reforestation feedback
I planted for Outland in 2013, for Machum's camp, on the Athabasca contract, and I haven't seen anyone post a straight review, as in a review, not a tangent about crazy specifics or the industry itself, for a while, so I figured i'd give one. It started before the season did. I had been in contact w...

It may have been different when you were there. I didn't really find them to be lax at all on planter safety- the vehicles were fine, driving was safe and respectful, and we were given helicopter safety training and all. Most of the planter accidents were just due to stupidity-i.e. planters jumping ...

That is an Ontario regulation. All Ontario companies will require you to have steel toes and hard hats on at all times while planting.

Re: TreeLine
Everything about this sounds way better than A&M in Ontario. If you have to work in "Onterrible", this sounds like a pretty solid place. Oh yeah, it definitely is. A&M is shite even with the new management changes. They run thinning quite well, but their planting is awful. However...

Nobody seems to have talked about Treeline here for about three years so I don't know how many people will read this, but I have planted at treeline for two seasons (2011 and 2012) so I'll give it a shot. I only have two seasons experience planting, both with Treeline, and from what I know about the...
