Re: Getting a Working Visa, for non-Canadians
You can get a three year work permit after attending college/uni for two or more years . I believe that after you've lived in Canada for three years, you may apply for your citizenship. If you attend school for less than two years, you may get a work visa equivalent to the amount of time you attende...

Re: Companies that work before May 1st or after September 1st
What is this "beetle work" I have heard a few planters mention? Not on this threat, but I've heard of it twice now.

Re: Illegal Worker Pay
Do these illegal workers often get caught? I met some people in Kelowna cherry picking who spoke of working either for cash or on other people's SIN.

Re: Planting in the USA
The industry is huge in the USA. About 1.5 Billion seedlings / year are planted. American Society has moved on from physical outdoor labor, and very little of it is done by actual Americans any more. Agriculture, Seafood, Nursery/Landscape, Silviculture Labor, the story is all the same and largely ...

Re: Planting in the USA
It's a shame we don't have as big of a tree planting industry in the U.S. Why is that? Wouldn't it be nice to create jobs?

Re: Off-Season Work and Work Outside of Canada
Working in offices drove me insane. I'd rather get shot in the face than do that again.

Re: Off-Season Work and Work Outside of Canada
I like making lots of money to work in a forest. I used to have an office job. I hated commuting in rush hour St. Louis traffic to go sit in a chair all day getting fat. The U.S. Forestry Service is an okay option because government jobs offer great benefits, but I don't know if any of those jobs fe...

Re: Off-Season Work and Work Outside of Canada
The coastal planting aspect of my post was the least interesting or important aspect of it. I don't really care much about that. I'm years and years away from being experienced enough to think about that. I mostly put it there for others. The main point was to share information regarding work elsewh...

Re: Planting in the USA
I'm an American, message me if you'd like my CV and phone number. No third paycheque fever here, especially if the prices in the U.S. really are as dismal as I've heard. I have way too much student loan debt shackling me down to be able to walk away from any job.

Off-Season Work and Work Outside of Canada
I'm an American who has already planted for one season. I should be doing it again this season if my work visa extension goes through. Last season, it was with a small company and only lasted two months. This season, it is with a much larger company that provides work throughout much of the year aft...
