Re: Partial Boxes

I also enjoy the stick with flagger tied to one end sticking out the top of the box when three or more seedlots are being used or for summer trees (that need to breath). That way even my most rushed planters can clearly see that there is a partial and not open new boxes.

Re: BOOTS backpacking boots VS mounteering boots

I was writing a reply that was basically the same as Caspers last night when my computer froze. The only plus of the plastic shell are that they last forever, and you don't have the maintence that you have with leathers. They are however made for mountaineering, not planting. Very different sports. ...

Re: Planting Dreams

Seven years and I've never had a planting dream, that I remember. I have dreams about planting camp in the off season. I`ve have probing and brushing dreams, even burning dreams when I`m doing those jobs. Planting though... the closest I come to planting dreams is waking up in the middle of the nigh...

pretty intense skywriter. you sound like you are old school. was it strictly a difference in styles between the two of you? eisan, sounds like you are happy to move on. what was the foreman pay structure at CR? what about at windfirm? Editing due to wording that may be taken as CR bashing, really not looking to burn any bridges here. Re: brushsaw opinions

With Wainwright, FS 550. I've 'sampled' most saws from the stihl line and as a distructive girl the 550 stands up to everything, mines going on 7 working seasons (given two of those seasons were rather short) it's fallen off cliffs, out of trucks, and survived many of my rage tree clubbings. I've al...

Re: Coast Range Contracting

The planters and crew chiefs were all great, without exception, and the cooking was absolutely amazing. But the lack of reality from the camp supervisor, with the crew chiefs having to tow his line, was just messed up. The entire crew, without exception, is ditching CR to work at another company th...

Having 6 or 7 years under my belt I'll add my two cents. Yea if you want to go bare minimum follow that kids list, but to ensure you're a happy little planter I'd follow some other list, I wuld be misserable if I brought that list. There's a kick ass planting list on replant, I also have a really de...

Re: Rules of Planting "Picking Contests"

This is just a general game played all season long :) "Mine" If you use the term "mine" you then have to do push ups (10) where-ever when-ever it happens, This game has changed my life. I started playing years ago when I planted with Windfirm. Serious I can't use that word anymo...

pay was not exactly every 2 weeks, sometimes shorter sometimes longer. Never had details of hectars we had brushed and different block prices on payrolls. I've never had a problem with my pay, it's every second Thursday at midnight, it's likely that your bank is the reason your pay was sporadic. I ...

Okay - well ,how about a nice nail brush - possibly those surgical brushes Haha, I do clean under my nails everynight before dinner. I'm not flithy I swear! The hospital scrubbies are so excellent, my mum hooks me up with a half dozen or so each season. No matter how much I scrub there's always a b...

I need my MP3 player while I'm doing any bush work. And a kick ass pair of head phones for brushing. I love having board games or bocce while planting as well, and marshmellows when I remember to buy them on day off. Ummm... Scooter shocking facts from the hospital! Re: Planting in the United Kingdom

I had a great experience in Scotland this year. I was there November to mid January. The prices were low, the ground was always prepped wet and usually peat mounds which split in half when you threw your shovel in, we planted bareroots in rows of three pine then three spruce for spacing. (The pine w...

Re: Dogs - Love them or hate them, I have some questions.

I always leave my dog at home but I love having well behaved (non mooshing, non barking, non agressive, not under my feet) dogs around camp because they'll alert the camp if there're bears, moose, ect. on the block or in camp and then chase them away plus they're cute fun to have around. One huge fl...

Spandex, the shinier the better, not only do they cut out chafing but they're nice and cool on hot hot days. To make life a bit easier I always like to keep handy paks of kleanex in my block bag in case TP gets wet, a few good really comfortable sports bras, wetwipes, extra ziplocks to keep things l...

I currently plant with Coast Range, brush with Stephan, and Scottish plant with Cawdor. I've also da...

I'm going on my 5th year of bush work and I swear the Keeper (Canadian version of the Diva Cup, basically the exact same thing in a different colour) has made that special time of month so much easier. Yes! I worked here with Windfirm last year. We did experimental grizzly clusters, we planted 7 trees in a group spacing at about a metre then walk 8 metres and plant another cluster. We had a crazy crazy checker though!
