Burning Slashpiles

Post by Scooter » Fri Nov 08, 2013 10:17 pm

I know a lot of planters that I've worked with over the years have been curious about how the slashpiles get burned on all the blocks. I took a few minutes of footage earlier this week to give people a really brief overview. It's pretty simple work, and this isn't a very fancy video, just a quick hack job. But it should get the point across. It makes a box fire seem kind of boring:

I used a BBQ lighter so I could keep a glove on my hand closest to the flame, is it standard practice to use a lighter without a glove? I've only ever done it a couple of times so I'm not sure what most guys in the field do.
