Was hired over craigslist... (rookie)
And am supposed to be meeting in the BC interior shortly.
Have no idea who the company is, or if there is one, could be just the guy. He seems nice, sounds like he knows what he is doing, but it seems a little dodgy. Should I be worried?

Did he tell you to bring a bathing suit?
If so, run!
Seriously though, you should ask who you are working for, how you will be paid (ie., direct deposit? If so you will need a void cheque from your bank).
The person who hired you should be taking reasonable steps to ensure you know what you are getting into. You need to know about what equipment to bring, and the sheer demands of the job. Will you receive training? If this is your first job away from home (or on any job for that matter), you should be able to tell your parents (girlfriend/boyfriend/next of kin) exactly where you are going and how to contact you in case of an emergency.
There are very few people that run one-person companies that take on rookies. Chances are that your employer is an established silviculture company. However, if they cannot provide information about tree prices, block specifications, and how you will be paid, you should start getting suspicious. There are a few shady operators out there that prey on the naive, but they are very few and far between.
Sometimes forepersons do their own hiring, and don't have all the details at their fingertips. However, if they have half a brain, they will be able to answer the simple questions.
If you get concerned, ask lots of questions, there's lots of folks here (with clearly too much time on their hands) happy to give some tips.

This is a new low.
Find out some information before you show up (especially if he asked for your a/s/l at any point).

And furthermore, when he gives you a phone number, verify it against the phone number and company name in my list of companies, then call that "official" number and make sure the person exists, and get a lot of questions answered. Don't accept excuses like, "oh, we changed our company number" and things like that. If it seems dodgy, run away.
There is a good chance that the person is legitimate, but there is also a good chance that he/she is not.
Protect yourself.

"The camp will consist of approximately 60-70 people, will serve food (vegetarian menu), provide transportation, and hot showers.".
Food AND transportation? Sounds pretty luxurious!
If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong

I wonder if it is ONLY vegetarian. Almost sounds like it from that.
Mind you, that would save on the food budget. They could put all the money they save from not buying meat towards the hot showers.

it's going to suck, but as a rookie you're not going to find anything else at this point.
