Planting clothes for warm to hot days

Post by MajesticMustache »

Was wondering what some good clothes are for warm to hot days when tree planting? I hear a lot of recommendations for light polyester/under armour type clothing. Is there any weather conditions where cotton is suitable? And do most planters where wool socks on hot days too or do they carry a sock that would keep their feet cooler?

Yeah cotton is fine for warm days. Under Armour kind of stuff is awesome too. Long johns shorts, with a long sleeve shirt is the best combo for warm days. Nothing fancy, don't forget the hat. As for the socks, I always wear wool. Not too bad when warm, and a must if you end up with wet feet.

My favourite combo for hot days is wool socks, long johns, gators, shorts, and a plain white dress shirt with long sleeves. If its not too buggy and slashy I roll up the sleeves or just wear a regular t-shirt.

I like to rock nothing but a layer of green paint and tons of DEEt.

Last season I planted with a guy who pulled a white cotton t-shirt over his head and wore it like a hijab. Claimed it kept the sun and bugs off his head, and was quite cool, enough so that when a breeze picked up his head felt cold. Never tried it myself, but it seemed to work pretty well for him.

No need for the whole t-shirt, just the sleeve.

Bonus: emergency toilet paper.

Haha in my rookie year the bugs were atrocious. It got so bad for me that I went to army surplus and bought a balaclava. A very thin one, just enough to keep the bugs off my face and also allow me to breathe properly and not over heat. Worked like a charm, havent used it since though.

Long skirts are the best.
