Hi,

I found a pretty good alternative to MEC in a store located in Montreal. The store is called “Depot du Plein Air” and they have very cheap and good quality sleeping bags, tents, and sleeping mats. Quite a few tree planters from Montreal go to this place.

For example, they have -15C thermolite sleeping bag for $49.99 and up to 8cm thick self-inflating sleeping pads for $49.99. A pretty good combo for tree farming.

If you compare the quality and price to the MEC products, then you are getting a much better deal.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, the store does not have the same Yuppie feel to it that MEC has.
