We've had a couple of music threads before. One was "What's Your Favorite Genre Of Music?" in this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=366
Another was "What Music Do You Plant To?" in this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=13&t=64348
However, I want to start this thread just to suggest that if someone sees a video on YouTube that they think is really good, share it here. Especially if it's less well-known musicians, so we can all learn about artists that we might not run across otherwise. All you have to do is post the YouTube link and then highlight the link you pasted, then go up and click on the "youtube" button above where you type in your post. That will embed the player in the post, which makes it a lot easier to watch.
I'm going to start with a video by Lindi Ortega. She's from Toronto, but she is currently based out of Nashville. And a country singer (yes, I listen to far more than just EDM). This is the title track off her album which was released two weeks ago, called, "Cigarettes & Truckstops"
It's only got about twenty thousand views so far, but it'll definitely be big. Mind you, a few hundred of those views are from me.

This one keeps cracking me up and making me think of planters, what with all the VV/thrift store clothing we tear through every year.
Re: Post a YouTube Music Video that you really like
Lindi's voice reminds me a little of Martha Wainwright....sandy velvet.

in my random Silviculture travels, I occasionally stumble across actual good radio stations. and one of them turned me on to Brent Cobb, a country singer-songwriter. so this song is a pleasant ear worm while out working. I'm pretty good at digging holes, too:
no actual video to watch there though. the last music video I really liked, for the video, was Money Mark's "Hand in Your Head" which has both an addictive funky piano riff and a killer video featuring a bunny suit peep and a buffalo suit peep having a good time drinking 40s while a VW bus record player drives around and around on a 45 set up on a tree stump. if you don't know what a 45 is, well, more's the pity. ahh heck, here ya go:
but back to Brent Cobb. A deadly part of outdoor manual labor is that day with a bad ear worm that you just can't get rid of. so lately I've turned to re-imagining what I believe is his current single. The little spoken worn intro about why anyone would do work that leaves you 'broke, lonesome, and blue' caught my ear, but then over a few weeks I realized how easy it is to just re-write the whole song for planting work "I just keep planting / stay in my piece" and then the bad ear worm is banished all over again, without resorting to singing "Ripple" instead, which always banishes every teensy-weensy itty-bitty yellow polka dot ear worm just perfectly. this one does have an officially overmade video version, too; here is just the audio
(by the way, youtube is on HTTPS these days; take the S off the HTTP to get embedding to work with the <youtube> button

Solid song, better video. Old STFI is the best, hopefully they can get their shit together and get back to making good music.

This classic from 1986 is perhaps even more relevant today. Watch Ronald Regan, another crazed American actor become president. It was crazy then. Is it crazier now?
