Cheese Bread & February 8th board updates

Post by Scooter »

I just did a bit of preventative maintenance.

- The "Nurseries" forum is gone. Nobody has posted in it since 2007, and I don't have time to write a history of Canadian nurseries past or present.
- The "Rides" forum is gone. It did get used a bit in the past, but not a whole lot. Besides, there is probably a legal liability if I set up this opportunity for people to solicit rides from strangers, and some crazy hillbilly serial killer on the Highway of Tears uses the forum to pick up and abduct someone. I'm not being sarcastic here, unfortunately.
- I rearranged the order of a couple of the other forums, so the more frequently-used forums are on top.

And finally, for those of you who don't care about the above notes, and think, "Why did I waste my time reading this post?" I have a great recipe for cheese bread.

I am at work right now at the restaurant. I can provide you with a recipe, with photos, except that the camera battery is dead and will take three or four hours to charge properly.

I'll be back ...

Recipe for my super special cheese bread is as follows:

1. Select bread.
2. Add cheese.
3. Melt and eat.

Now, if you really want to get fancy, you can add a step, by buttering the bread. I have illustrated the sequence with the photos below:

First, select your bread. Here I have multi-grain and white. I normally like multi-grain the best, but for cheese bread, it can distract from the core of the matter - the cheese. So sometimes white is best.

Add some cheese. Here, I've gone with a base of mozza, plus a little cheddar sprinkled on top. You can also give it more taste with a touch of feta or something similar.

And actually, it's always good to have a little something on the side. So to accompany the cheese bread, let me recommend something like a scallop medley pasta and a nice glass of white, maybe a pinot grigio or a white zinf.

Start with a bowl of penne, mixed in alfredo/bechemel. I make mine from scratch, but you can also buy it at the store.

Choose your toppings wisely. I went with a dozen scallops, some red peppers, and broccoli - sautee it all in garlic butter. I chose the ingredients for their color aesthetics too, not just taste.

Um, yes. Those are real photos, not just crayon! It tasted pretty damn good too. See, I do eat healthy. Well, except for the bacon, and alfredo, and cheese.

Haha, I'm definitely not cooking in camp. I'm just the head dinner cook at my own restaurant, so I have a bit of background in the art.

Although there are certainly a lot of days that I'd rather be a cook than a supervisor.
