The Coolest Firewood Splitter Ever

Post by Scooter »

I can't see that this would be much more cost efficient than two guys who are good with saws and who have a good high-end gas-powered wheeled (trailer) splitter, plus a conveyor system to move split pieces out of the way.

But this is still a pretty crazy machine:

I couldn't find a price on that one.

However, here's another one which is sold in Canada from http://www.woodlandmills.ca for only $6,600.

the machines that took the joy out of a pick-up + chainsaw = cash

load an 8' pulp bolt in one end, 16" split pieces spit out the other end

but how do you get the wood into the basement...

I check these processors out a lot. For the consumer to the prosumer, the payout is that it is not nearly as tiring as the chainsaw and axe AND there are fewer individual movements to make. Anyone that has figured out planting should understand the economy of movement.

I know one fellow that owns a medium sized machine, and he reports to me that he processed 80 cords of firewood in September, all around the neighbourhood.
Great little business, just drive up to a pile of wood and charge by the hour or by the cord. Bring a highschooler to stack wood for extra money.
