BCTS vs FFT vs MOFL

Post by TheRedHandle »

What do these entities do. I know that we get contracts for them sometime (I think with MOFL). I know its BC Timber Service, Forest(s?) For Tomorrow, and Ministry Of Forest and Land (maybe). I know that BCTS is usually fresh cut land and FFT is usually older or less straight forward stuff. But the government doesn't have crews logging. What's the deal with these guys?

Read the first two sections (Overview & Administration) on this page:

It's only about 4 minutes of reading, but it will give you a very basic overview of what they do.

The MOF (or MOFL) changed its name a couple years ago, so the acronym is now MOFLNRO. Sometimes they call it the FLNRO.

So MOFLNRO is for land that has been harvested and is on the backlog of NSR and FFT is for land that has been devastated by something other than people cutting trees down? While BCTS is for blocks that they put up for bid in the last year or two? Do I have that right?

Yes, that's a good rough explanation. Not perfect, because all three agencies/programs sometimes work outside of their regular patterns, but that's a simple and correct way of looking at it about 97% of the time.
