If you look very closely at this picture, you will see something strange about Byron's shirt. Ah ha! It is not a striped-top shirt, despite appearances. No, he is actually wearing his superhero shoulder warmers.

Breakfast in the mess tent on a cold and windy morning.

A busy scene after supper in camp, with a water delivery arriving, a reefer being unloaded, and all the foremen getting ready to go back out to set up blocks for the following day.

A few hours after the hail storm, when it had started to warm up, I decided to make a slushee with some drink crystals, hail, and other tasty ingredients. Of course, it looks like a water jug full of corn niblets, but looks are deceiving.

Here's a photo of me on the quad, running trees on a typical wet and miserable July day. The quad is the worst part of the job when the weather is bad, because it gets so cold for the foreman. In this photo, it is July, and I'm wearing long underwear, sweat pants, rain pants, then chain saw pants on top, with two shirts and a sweater and a raincoat to keep warm. Conversely, when planting, my body generates enough heat that I can plant comfortably in a t-shirt or without a shirt in light snow.

The truck parked by a cache that I set up to shade the trees. I raised one end of the cache so I could easily drive the quad in to pick up boxes.

A butterfly sitting on a large ratchet strap, trying to warm up in the early morning sunlight (and maybe take advantage of the camoflage effect).

Drew Freeman, and yes, that is snow/hail that has collected in the shade tent behind his head. This photo was taken on July 1st, 2004.
