These pictures were taken in June of 2011, during our third camp of the season, working for a private mill in southern Alberta.

The convoy, on the way to camp.

Everyone is moving to unload the reefer after a quick camp meeting.

Elliot, playing doctor.

Zach, quadding some trees.

The kilometer "one" sign. This was as close to the blocks as we could park. Unfortunately, the blocks were two or three kilometers further up the road. Time to start walking.

Doing laundry the economical way.

Our fuel cache.

The view from one of the blocks.

Tom & Andrew at breakfast.

Dusty's breakfast plate.

The lunch table, early in the morning.

Carissa and Laura are trying to get out of the mud.

Haley.

One of Zach's caches.

Wilson and Andrew, planning out tree deliveries to the block.

One of our blocks.

Outhouses in the morning.

The inside of my truck. The mud and water got everywhere. Trying to keep things clean was really frustrating. The windows and mirrors often got coated with mud, so when we opened the windows to try to see what was happening, we'd get a faceful of mud.

Simon.

It seems that no matter how hard we try to keep things clean, the trucks are always vomiting equipment all over the ground.

Ariane, our assistant cook.

Some of the trucks in camp.

It was still sunny on the block, but there was a nasty storm coming in.

Alex, eating an apple while she gets ready to start a new block.

Another one of our blocks.

The shower trailer plumbing.

Never look back. Because you can't.

A cattle drive, blocking the road.

One of the blocks above camp.

Jess, making grilled cheese sandwiches for breakfast.

Getting ready to walk into the back of a new block in the Atkinson area.

Setting up a new main cache.

Kyler.

Shelley's F-350 flat-deck. This photo shows how big the mature trees are. Regular size for Alberta, not big by BC standards.

Darius, one of the local SRD officers. He visits our blocks regularly to document the planting process, taking photos and checking seed zones, etc.

A few wild horses.

A cache on the blocks.

Early-morning photo of camp, around 4:30am.

Andrew, Katie, Leslie, and Paddy.

Some heli-packaged garbage boxes. Packing them this way, instead of leaving them flat, makes it easier to fly nets of garbage out of the blocks.

I don't know what kind of hook this was on the helicopter net, but it was the strongest (and best) hook that I've ever seen. I need to convince our office to source these hooks and replace all the hooks on our own nets this winter.

Dragging an empty net up the road.
